RESIDENTIAL PORTFOLIO
Private Residence
Arlington, Virginia

Before:
This brick rambler was indistinguishable from thousands of others
like it in northern Virginia. But the owners loved the location
and the mature trees, so they turned to Bass Architects to help
them turn their existing house into their dream home.
|
|
 |
The
expansion up and out used materials that were compatible with the
original house, so the new work appears to be an intergral part
of the house. The expanded second floor includes a master bedroom
and home office.

The
family now enjoys the outside living space as well as the inside,
including this extensive patio overlooking the verdant backyard.
The large windows bring in tremendous natural light throughout the
house and expose many rooms to the lovely view.
|
|
 |
| The
new kitchen and family room addition gave the homeowners much-needed
space at the heart of the home. The multiple French doors to the patio
make this sunny dining area blend seamlessly with the patio and backyard
for casual entertaining. |
