RESIDENTIAL PORTFOLIO
|
|
The owner of this elegant home is a gourmet cook and former caterer
who likes to work alone. This Tuscan-inspired kitchen was designed
with a fairly compact work space and prep area for the solo cook,
but with a generous counter and plenty of seating so friends and family
can enjoy her kitchen artistry without getting underfoot. |

 |
Part
of a major home renovation by our sister company, Abingdon
Development Corporation, this project involved tearing out a
load-bearing wall between the existing kitchen and dining room and
replacing it with a steel beam. Lighted glass-front cabinets show
off fine crystal while the built-in bookshelves accommodate the
homeowner’s extensive collection of cookbooks.

When it came to this showplace kitchen, the homeowner wanted the best
of everything: professional stove, custom cabinets in stained pine,
verde butterfly granite countertops, tumbled marble backsplash. The
floor is a custom combination of imported tiles in buff and slate
tiles in green. |

 |
The
counter is perfect for casual dining, for staging a buffet, or for
moving dishes to the formal dining room. Throughout the space are
thoughtful nooks – coffee bar, wet bar, wine cooler –
where guests can serve themselves.
